Something old, something new, something borrowed — and quite unmistakably blue.

The old wedding rhyme asks for four small tokens of luck. By happy accident, this little car carries all of them at once. Old, because she has been turning heads since 1978. New, because every seam, stitch and switch has been restored by hand. Borrowed, because she arrives for one golden afternoon — yours. And blue, because — well. Look at her.

Vintage Photo Prop began with a simple conviction: the loveliest photographs have a story parked quietly inside them. So we restored one — a Beetle cabriolet in cornflower blue, with seats the colour of clotted cream — and we bring her wherever beautiful days are being made.

05 · The experience

From enquiry to album.

    The enquiry

    Tell us the date, the place and the dream. We confirm her availability within two days and hold the date while we talk.

  2. 02

    The plan

    We coordinate timing, delivery and placement with your venue, planner or photographer — down to where she'll catch the best light.

  3. 03

    The arrival

    She turns up early, polished and dressed — ribbon, florals or signage arranged just so. Then she does what she does best: nothing, beautifully.

  4. 04

    The photographs

    You keep the pictures, and the story parked inside them. If Bronsen shoots, a hand-edited gallery follows within a fortnight.

06 · The photographer

The eye she trusts most.

The whole of Vintage Photo Prop is Bronsen's doing — the car, the idea, and the long weekends that turned one into the other. He restored her for the camera as much as for the road, and nobody knows her angles better.

Add him to your hire and the day is photographed the way it felt: unhurried, warm, a little windswept. He shoots quietly, edits by hand, and delivers a gallery you'll want to print rather than just post.

Do you do weddings?

They're our favourite. The Beetle plays ceremony exit, portrait companion and getaway car — often all three in one afternoon. Tell us the running order and we'll fold her in without a fuss.

How long does a hire last?

Most hires run two to four hours — enough for portraits and a proper exit. Full-day arrangements are lovely for weddings; we'll help you choose once we know the shape of your day.

Is photography included?

Only if you'd like it to be. “The Beetle” is the car alone, styled and attended. “The Beetle, photographed” adds a session with Bronsen and a hand-edited gallery. Many couples pair the car with their own photographer — she's easy to share.

Can we drive her?

She arrives with her attendant, who handles all driving and placement — so you can hold a drink, a bouquet, or each other. Staged driving portraits (hands on the wheel, top down, going nowhere) are warmly encouraged.

How far will you travel?

We deliver happily within about an hour's drive of home, and further afield is often possible with notice. Travel is quoted plainly with your enquiry — no surprises.

How do deposits work?

A deposit holds your date — and dates aren't reserved until it's paid. The balance is due two weeks before your event. We set it all out in writing, in plain language.

What happens if it rains?

The soft top goes up and she gets moodier — some of our favourite frames happen under grey skies. If the weather turns truly foul, we work with you to reshuffle timing or reschedule altogether.

Can you build something custom?

Gladly. Longer hires, multiple locations, brand campaigns, surprise choreography for proposals — write to us with the dream and we'll shape a quote around it.
